Shaminur Rahman

I was fortunate enough to work for Sham for several years and like many messages my memory of Sham will him always having a smile on his face and being passionate about his work. There are several memories i have but below are a few

Sham was trying to charm and hoodwink an external auditor but ending up failing miserably by calling her by the wrong name and then spilling a can of coke from his desk all over her.

As mentioned Sham was a VIP customer at Pizza hut and we had a weekly outing to the hut by which time when the vegetarian pizzas were ready for the buffet they would be perused infront of Sham first so that he had first dibs. We did once havd a team meeting in Pizza express but it wasnt the same and was never repeated

On a work front Sham probably worked too hard there were some occassions with there aways being a red bull in the afternoon, sometimes you would pass his Passat at lunch time to find him fully reclined catching a few extra winks. There were occassions (more than one) where he turned up to work in odd shoes. Sham was also keen for team bonding events as he would call it, Paintball was on the agenda for years but he unfortunatley could never convince me to play. We used to go to Indians around Doncaster with the team and Sham would always try to order something that wasnt on the menu and instruct the waiters to tell the chef how he wanted it cooking. I cannot not mention the famous “Shamosas” that the office would demand be brought in on several occassions as were everyones favourite.

We set up a table tennis club and i can remember being stood opposite thinking im going to destroy you here, what i didnt know is that i was facing Sham “The King of Spin” Rahman and i struggled to return a shot. I maintain that the reason for this was due to his illegal serve but this accusation was passionatley rejected by Sham.

As mentioned Sham will be remembered as someone who had time for anyone, always willing to share a joke and always walked around with a smile on his face and through our many conversations always conveyed how proud he was of all his children

Rest Easy Sham it was an absolute pleasure to know you
