In Memory of

Wayne Connolly

It is with great sadness that we mark the passing of Wayne Connolly. Wayne was a highly respected colleague and friend, whose contribution, leadership and dedication meant a great deal to so many of us.

His loss will be deeply felt, and our thoughts are with his family, friends and all those who had the privilege of working with him.

He was a major figure within the world of scaffolding and a major driver for positive change across the industry.

The intention of this Book of Remembrance is to serve as a single place where we can share our thoughts and memories of Wayne.

Harry McAdoo, Interim Chair, CISRS QAC

Wayne Connolly was larger than life and an exceptional Chair of NASC and CISRS.  His combination of high expectations, indefatigable good humour and camaraderie made him someone who was a pleasure to work with and someone who I am grateful I got to know.  He had the courage to take both organisations in a direction that was needed and leaves an immense legacy across the scaffolding and access sectors. As Chair of the QAC I am determined that we honour this legacy by building a training model for the sector that is inclusive, aspirational and which enables the next generation of scaffolders to get a (quite literal) foot on the ladder.  He will be missed….

My experience of Wayne was of a person full of energy and enthusiasm, he was intelligent, with a quick, able mind, and the drive to work hard for what he believed in. He saw the ways NASC was not living up to its potential, and worked tirelessly to support us in moving forward and developing into the organisation we should be. He has shown us the way, and we will strive to live up to his expectations. The shock pain and grief which must be suffered by Wayne’s family and close friends at this time are things I wish no one ever had to suffer. I send them every best wish as they travel their journey. Wayne was a great person and will live in our memories. …

Sarah Klieve - High Peak Scaffolding Ltd

Sending hearfelt condolences to Waynes family, friends and colleagues from myself and all at High peak Scaffolding. The news of his passing was shocking and deeply saddening. Having had the privilege of serving on the NASC Council with him since 2018 his professionalism, enthusiasm and determination to continually improve the scaffolding industry was always evident. He took this forward into his Presidency – a role in which he achieved so much in such a short time. He will be sorely missed. Our thoughts are with you all.     …

Lee Buckley - Buckley Design Solutions (BDS)

To hear of the passing of Wayne was a shock and extremely saddening. Having seen Wayne only the day before at his new offices, watching him deliver presentations to all his staff with such excitement for what was to come in 2026, was great to see. It is such a shame that Wayne will not get to see his vision through. Wayne was a customer of mine for over 10 years, an industry leader, and someone I looked up to as a business mentor. When I first started out, he gave his time and advice freely, often without realising just how much it helped me as a young business owner. From myself & everyone at BDS our thoughts are with Wayne’s family, friends, and colleagues….

Alan Slater, Head of Technical & Product Support at TRAD UK

I was saddened and extremely shocked to hear of Wayne’s passing, and my thoughts go out to his family, friends, all of the Connolly Scaffolding team and those who worked alongside him at the NASC. I firstly got to know Wayne through the partnership TRAD and Connolly Scaffolding have built up over the years, and latterly through the NASC and what always struck me was his passion for the industry – for someone who wasn’t scaffolding bred, he lived and breathed it more than most. Wayne was honest, forthright, passionate and considerate, he had his opinions but yet was willing to listen to others, take on board their thoughts and not afraid to change his own, while always putting forward reasoned and well thought out views of his own.  I always enjoyed our conversations on the industry, he not only listened to what I said but he heard what I meant, that is a subtle but significant thing.  He was a true gentleman who will be missed by all those that had the privilage to know him, while his passing is a huge loss to the scaffolding community as a whole.  May you rest in peace Wayne, you will…
