I was shocked and saddened to hear of Val’s passing. Val was always kind and helpful to me when I was trying to get to grips with the batch scheduling system. I still have fond memories of the time that Val and the rest of her team set next to me. My condolencies to her family and friends…

Very sad to hear of Val’s passing. I will always remember Val’s happy outlook on life and her laughter. I once asked her why she moved from bonnie Scotland to live round the corner from us in Bletchley, with a twinkle in her eyes she said the rain! At the time it was chucking it down, we both set off laughing which lasted ages. The world has lost a lovely lady.  my thoughts and prayers to the family.  Jeanette…

Val, I for once feel lost for words, but here goes … 🙂 The sadness of your loss, brought a rush of so many happy memories.  You had a personality to be jealous of, so helpful and kind, and that infectious laugh, which I can hear it now.  So many happy memories of years working alongside you, and at times with you. You was never short of surprises, and the big surprise was when I visited you in hospital many years ago.  When asking for Val Brewer, the desk nurse said there was not a Val Brewer only a Katherine.  I asked if I could take a look at you, to see if it was my friend Val.  She gave me an unusal look, and said she would have to accompany me, but then thankfully, you called out because you heard me.  Even then at a time of you feeling poorly, that infectious laugh came out. That same period of you being poorly, when I visited you at home.  You was attached to the lounge lamp with your drip hanging from it, again that infectious laugh came out. I know during the time of this illness that eventually took you…

Such sad news.  I worked with Val for many years.  Val was always cheerful and helpful even when I didn’t know things.  I remember Val’s smile and laughter most of all.  Val helped so many people and brightened up our day.  She will be missed by many at the OU.  My sincere condolences to her family and loved ones….

I am so sorry to hear this news. I never worked closely with Val, however if I ever had a release and needed her support she always took the time to explain what was needed and was always cheerful, no matter how many times she may have explained it to me before.  With love and best wishes to her family and friends at what I know is a most painful time….

Val was simply one of the nicest people I have worked with in IT. I was deeply saddened to hear of Val’s passing, but immediately remembered the endless amount of laughs I had with her and the rest of the IT-Scheduling Team (Jill & Lorraine) whenever I visited them, while we were working on Campus, for a chat whether work-related or just social. And that’s how I will always remember Val — always welcoming with a smile, approachable and witty. I would like to send my heartfelt condolences to all of Val’s family and friends. So sorry for your loss. RIP Val….

My dear friend Val, I have known you for 20 years, from the day I met you I thought what a lovely lady you were, alway smiling, welcoming. As the years went by we eventaully ended up working alongside each other, we worked well together and we did work hard but oh the laughs we had and not a cross word.  The only time I said I would never forgive you was when you went to Pink Punters without me but I knew you had a great time as Lucianne was with you and you all had fun! She also thought that you were a lovely, kind and generous lady, my whole family thought you were.  Thinking of you makes me smile you had such a lovely sense of humour and we laughed most days when were working in the office.  We talked about our children and the journey of them growing up. When we were in the small office people could hear us laughing, we always found something hilarious to discuss. We would just look at each other and just know what each other was thinking. You had so much patience training me and Angela and I thank…
