In Loving Memory of
Sharron Hobbs
Sharron Hobbs, a true professional
Reflections: A word says it all…
“Jovial, vivacious or effervescent” – District Judge Michael Oliver, Highbury Magistrates’ Court
“Bright. Her brightness lit up the room” – Emmanuel Adu-Baah, Legal Adviser Highbury Magistrates’ Court
“Vibrant” – Valerie Benjamin, Crown Prosecution Service
“Joyful. That is the only word I can think of to describe her smile, warmth and generous nature” – Penny Fergusson, Crown Prosecution Service
“In my memory she was very energetic and optimistic, but she was also very thorough and always wanted to make sure that things are done right, ie by the book, so if I have to pick one word, scrupulous might be the one” – Raina Russ, Youth Offender Service Manager, London Borough of Enfield.
“Kind. Generous with her time” – Nichola Dalziel, Manager at HMRC
Sharron started her journey as a Legal Adviser at Bromley Magistrates’ Court. She transferred to Highbury Magistrates’ Court in 2014 following the birth of her first child. She was a much respected and supportive Legal Adviser who always gave time to newer team members in a gentle and encouraging way. She would frequently stay late offering support and oversight.
As Lead Legal Adviser for the Youth Court, Sharron was instrumental in leading and supporting the North and Central London Youth Bench, one of the largest youth centres in the country. She had vast experience and was committed to youth work with a real passion. She supported the Youth Panel and Court User Group, worked closely with the Panel Chair and was also involved in the London Youth Forum. Sharron formed excellent working relationships with stakeholders and partner agencies and was respected for her legal expertise and ability to deal with complex legal issues or situations.
Sharron undertook line management responsibilities for Court Associates where she built and developed capability within the team.
Sharron left HMCTS and joined HMRC on 1st November 2022 as she was keen to continue to broaden her legal skills and take on new opportunities and challenges.
Above all, Sharron was a devoted Mum and Wife and spoke proudly and affectionately of her children and husband.
Sharron had a long-lasting impact that will never be forgotten. Her contribution was outstanding and she touched the lives of many people. She made a difference every day.
The outpouring of love for Sharron reflects the remarkable person that she was.
