Ms. Catherine Francis

This book is in memory of a beloved member of our DESS family. Ms Catherine Francis, a teacher who  worked at DESS since 2004, who dedicated her life to education and was a cherished teacher at our school.

This is a gesture to Catherine’s family from the DESS community, as a way of expressing our love and gratitude for the dedication, devotion and kindness she showed us throughout the years she spent at DESS.

Catherine’s legacy shall be her passion and commitment to her students and she will forever be remembered by those who were fortunate enough to have her as their teacher. The impact she had on their lives will continue to shape their futures. Catherine was someone who always worked incredibly hard with everything she did, encouraging her students through her boundless energy and enthusiasm. She was an absolute inspiration to both her colleagues and her students. We are truly grateful to have had this remarkable lady as part of our DESS community and her memory will remain at DESS always.

Catherine Francis was the first teacher I worked with when I started at DESS back in 2018 as a TA. She was truly an amazing person, so warm and welcoming. She was a true asset to DESS and DESS will not be the same without her. Her passion, dedication and commitment as a teacher was unmatched.  Even though both my boys didn’t have her as a class teacher , she was their year group leader and always took a huge interest in how they were doing. I could speak to her about any of my worries and concerns. She was so proud of her family and spoke so highly of them. She absolutely adored her grandchildren and would grab any opportunity with both hands to go and spend time with them. The void that she has left will be difficult to fill. Catherine Francis, rest in peace. …

Catherine was a true inspiration to all of the teaching staff at DESS. Her care for the children was truly given with a passion and dedication that I doubt many could ever attain. When I once asked her about retirement she quite simply said ‘ I am still an innovative teacher’ and truly she was. I was always delighted to hear that Catherine was to take a class of mine and would always welcome news of the immense progress they made under her care. She was without question a true inspiration and her presence at school will remain sorely missed for years to come.  On a personal level it was a privilege to be called her friend and be trusted to sit alongside her when life dealt its cruelest of blows. Catherine, my friend your legacy at DESS lives on and we miss you with heavy hearts.  My sincere condolences to Ollie, Ben and Charlotte her beautiful family, their wives and husband and her delightful grand children who she adored and featured so much in our conversations. Your mother and grandma will remain always in our hearts. …

Catherine was a great support to me staring a new life in Qatar and within a new school and I have many happy memories of those times. She was an inspriring teacher who motivated many children that others couldn’t! She will be missed by many but I feel priviledged that she was in my life. I hope that love, courage and peace find you during this difficult time. Although it is difficult to see beyoned the sorrow, may looking back in memory help you tomorrow. …
