In Loving Memory of

Mike Hobbs

For many people Mike (aka The Welsh Wizzard) is only someone they have only met online

through Twitter, his blog, or as a co-host of the Meeples & Miniatures Podcast

His tragic and untimely passing has robbed us of one the best amongst us:

A warm-hearted, kind and generous man, always ready with a smile, a hug and the most wicked humour.

The effect he has had on our lives is almost immeasurable and the world is a poorer place without him.

“No one is finally dead until the ripples they cause in the world die away,

until the clock wound up winds down,

until the wine they have made has finished its ferment,

until the crop they have planted is harvested.

The span of someone’s life is only the core of their actual existence”

Terry Pratchett

Mike I never had the pleasure of meeting you in person, but I have enjoyed your company for many many hours listening to your podcast. It always felt like hearing from an old friend, and while you always spoke with passion; your heart, warmth, and humour – never at anyone’s expense – really showed what a funny, friendly, and caring gentleman you are. It will be my eternal regret that I never got to meet you, but I would just like you to know that I was one of the many quiet listeners that took great joy from hearing about your projects and purchases. You will be greatly missed….

Mike was a friend of the digital age. Just 20 years ago I wouldn’t have known him from Adam. Now, having only physically met him five or six times, I have been blessed to have spent many, many hours in his company through the podcast, Twitter and Skype. His passing was all the more shocking for not just the loss of somone so young, but for the realisation that regardless of how many times we’d actually met, he was one of a few treasured friends. Taken much too soon. Blessed me and many others with our shared love of a hobby. And a great example of what a humble human being can be. Rest well….

Mike, thank you for being an awesome friend. For making me laugh every time we spoke, played a game or chatted over Paint and Chat. I’m going to miss talking about food and seeing your magnificent feast preparations. I know that wherever you are, you’ve already made it a brighter, happier place. With better food and drink. I miss you mate. …

May your dice always roll high (or low as required). May your paints never dry out. May your minis crush your enemies, drive them before you and hear the lamentations of their owner. You will be sadly missed by the gaming community..rest in peace…
