I am told Michael was a brilliant litigator. I never had the misfortune to cross him on that front. I knew him as lovely guy, great company, a brilliant raconteur and someone who seemed to have lived more fully in his life than anyone else I came across. My sincerest condolences to Michael’s family and friends. I will miss bumping into him at gigs (which I did twice!) and I know he will be desperately missed at PM.  …

I remember starting my time at Pinsents and wondering who it was that I could hear across the 5th floor on a regular basis. Michael was a force of nature, strong-minded, fiercely loyal and a great colleague (who never wavered in sharing his frustrations about our IT equipment). We shared a common connection as we both grew up in East London not far from each other, and I will miss not being able to grab a beer with him. He leaves behind a tremendous legacy and will forever be a Pinsent Masons legend. My sincerest condolences to the Fenn family.  Michael, I know you’ll forever be blowing bubbles……..

I really enjoyed working with Michael, and will miss his humour and no nonsense attitude. I feel very lucky to have been involved in one of his last court battles. He will be hugely missed as a leader and friend, and I send my heartfelt condolences and very best wishes to his family and all at Pinsent Masons….

Fenn, I am utterly heartbroken. I held onto so much hope that you would pull through, and I know how fiercely you fought these past months to try to make that happen. I remain deeply grateful for the time we spent together during your stay at the hospital in London. The moments we shared — the laughter, the conversations — will stay with me always. I will never forget how you joked that my life was more depressing than yours because I spent my Friday night — unknowingly also Valentine’s Day — hanging out with you in the hospital. That was so you: always finding humour, even in the darkest moments. Thank you for everything over these past seven years. You have been more than a boss — you have been a mentor, a steadfast champion, and a true friend. I will always be thankful for your guidance, your encouragement, and the unwavering belief you had in me. You consistently had my back, and that meant more than words can express. I still cannot believe you are gone. I often think about the last time we had beers after work, just before Christmas. We spoke about the year ahead…
