We are sorry to announce that Linda Happe, Early Years Manager at Queen Mary’s Westfield Nursery, passed away suddenly in June. Linda was a much-loved member of staff and popular with parents and children in her care.
Linda joined Queen Mary on 11th September 2017 and many of the Queen Mary community will have met Linda as she led the nursery team who cared for many children of staff members and the local community during her time at the nursery. Linda passed away on 5th June 2021.
Karen Gravell, our former Deputy Nursery Manager, said of Linda:
“Linda was not only my manager, but she was also my friend. Together we survived the lockdown, a flood and Covid!
As the nursery manager, she was hardworking, professional and supportive. She always went above and beyond her role. Since starting at the nursery nearly 4 years ago, the nursery has gone from strength to strength, because of her passion for Early Years shining throughout, which motivated the team to strive for the better. Linda was so family orientated both at home and at work. Parents and children loved her. Children would always pop into the office daily, always for a long chat! or to show her something they had found outside! Often you could always find Linda in one of the children’s rooms, sleeves rolled up and getting her hands dirty.
She was a fun loving person who loved cats, her holiday’s, pink gin and her collection of handbags, which she often had to hide from her husband!! Linda is irreplaceable and will be missed by everyone that knew her.”
Our condolences go to Linda’s husband Roberto, who is a valued colleague within the Nursery team, her family and friends.
