It’s so hard to say goodbye to someone as vibrant and dynamic as Kamola whose infectious energy inspired us all. Kamola was that one of a kind unique person and I am so glad our paths crossed at EBRD. Most people known Kamola as a fierce unstoppable and formidable woman who was full of life, energy and laughter. As Kamola’s younger sister, I watched how that character came about. How it got stronger with each tear, heartbreak and disappointment she saw as a child. How her global sense of responsibility came about from the time she looked after me when she was a child herself. And how her heart has expanded for every breathing living thing in this world and filled with kindness, love and generosity. Not everyone appreciated when she gave a piece of herself to them, when she took time to help someone despite the cost she had to bear, but it was the act of giving that made her feel full and happy. Kamola loved for 48 years and in that time she has managed to change the world and lives of so many people, that most people will not accomplish in double that time. She was an extraordinary, beautiful woman that has left a mark in this world that will continue to grow and bring beauty and kindness for years to come….

In Azerbaijan, our parents pray that God brings only good people into their children’s life journey. I believe there are similar prayers in other cultures. The prayers of our parents were answered when each of us met Kamola. She was a wonderful human being and we were blessed to have her with us. Rest in peace, dear Kamola xanum. …

This was a sorrowful day when I learned that Kamola left us. I met her not long ago when we studied together in Cambridge. Since our first meeting, she was always extremely friendly, kind, thoughtful, and empathetic. She truly was a ray of bright light in our group at the University. We will all miss her smile at our next reunion. Rest in peace, Kamola…

My beautiful Kamola Words cannot express how lucky and privileged I am to call you my friend. You have touched my life in some many ways and the memories we’ve made together fills my heart with immense love and happiness. You are an inspiration to me. Your smile, your way of seeing life and live life to the full, your silliness , great sense of humour and laughter will be with me forever.  I will walk Ipanema beach in December, listening to one of your favourite songs ‘The girl from Ipanema’ and I know you will be there with me .  Te amo  Saudades  Camila (the Brazilian)             …

It was with a huge heavy sadness that I learnt that our wonderful Kamola is no longer with us. I feel incredibly privileged for having been touched through my life by Kamola’s enormous amount of positive energy, drive, kindness and willingness to make an impact. To her children whom she adored and always spoke about to friends: your mum was a truly exceptional person, an inspirational example to others and such a powerful ambassador of the Uzbek culture. The world is suddenly poorer without her presence but her legacy and light will live on and continue to inspire us. …
