It is with deep sadness that we say goodbye to a truly remarkable person, where to start Julie! You were a great boss, mentor, and friend to so many people and your passing leaves a void in so many hearts. You were more than just a leader, you were the kind of person who made coming to work something to look forward to. Always approachable, kind, and understanding, you had a way of making everyone feel heard and valued. Whether we needed guidance, a word of encouragement, or just someone to listen, you were always there. You weren’t just the engine that kept things running. You were the spark that brought life and laughter into every room. The life and soul of the party, you could lift any mood with your wit, your warmth, and infectious energy. You had a way that made us all feel supported, appreciated, and inspired. To say you will be missed by so many doesn’t begin to cover it. I am so grateful for the time we worked together, and the memories and opportunities you allowed me to have. Thank you. May i honor you by striving to lead with the same compassion, joy, and authenticity…

I was deeply shocked and saddened to be told that Julie had passed. I still have emails from Julie from 2012, 2014, 2016 right through to the present day! I used to do voice-overs for Solmar villas and talked with Julie frequently at that time over email… she was exceptionally patient with me and mummy as we planned our hols in Solmar villas… and it makes me smile to re-read her words now all these years later: ‘none of the resorts in Menorca are chavvy!’ Dear Julie, always so full of verve, charisma and fun, always open to new ideas and so supportive of her friends and colleagues. Just a few months ago, some of the Solmar team took a tour round ITV as they will be working closely with ITV this year, and Julie and I picked up again where we left off. Only by 2025 she’d made it to Managing Director after John Tayler retired. I was so chuffed for her. Cream always rises to the top, and she was fabulous and always so diligent in her job and was so supportive of everyone around her, and kind. She offered me the opportunity to become an ambassador for…

It has taken me a while to find the right words to write this. I don’t think anything anyone can say will truly make sense of such a tragic loss, yet I hope that the collection of people’s thoughts and feelings can offer some comfort, perhaps ease the pain a little—and even bring a smile or two in the difficult times ahead. Having worked with Julie for over 13 years, I feel extremely privileged to have known Solmar from its early days as a small family business to the hugely successful company it is today. Julie brought a genuine sense of belonging to the workplace, making it feel like a true family. A strong woman, a force of nature, and incredibly quick-witted, Julie also had the gift of truly listening. She made you feel like your opinion mattered and was always open to new ideas—no matter how unusual they were. I’ll never forget my first few months as a contractor, taking over from John in Menorca. Those were big shoes to fill! Julie had always loved the idea of villas with pool slides, so I thought I’d deliver. The supplier agreed, and things were set in motion. I was…

Chris Christou

Deeply saddened by the loss of Julie and our thoughts and prayers are with Chris and his family. I’ve been a supplier for Solmar for almost four years now and spoke many times with Julie over the phone but had not had the pleasure of meeting her in person. What really made an impression was her professionalism and knowledge of the hospitality industry. She was a good negotiator and always saw issues from various angles but she also possessed a great sense of humour. I remember our first phone conversation when she called me for the first time and said “hi Chris, it’s Julie”, I replied “oh, the Julie!” She replied with laughter “yes, the Julie”. I then realised that this company was headed by a respectful and approachable managing director which is very rare these days and I really hope that Solmar continues along the guidelines which Julie has developed. Chris, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family….

Thirty years ago, my receptionist said to me: “There is a tourist asking about villas for rent”. I took care of him. In fact, he looked like a typical tourist: T-shirt, shorts, sandals and white socks. He was very friendly and after a brief conversation told me that he had a small company called Solmar villas and was looking for vllas to rent. He had very clear ideas of how to operate. I have to admit my doubts but finally I offered him 5 villas. That tourist was John Taylor. At that moment a business relationship started between both companies. Over the years the professional relationship turned into a friendship.Years later their daughter Julie started to help them, and finally they left her in charge of the business.I am sure her parents had high expectations for Julie, and they were not wrong. The company became structured, professionalized, expanded and became more profitable. My relationship with Julie has been more professional than friendly, obviously we met several times in Mallorca and London. In my opinion Julie was one of the most important managers in the villa rental business. Personally she was kind and sincere. Her loss has shocked me, she was…

Julie was more than a “boss” – she was a guiding force. Straight talking, encouraging, and endlessly supportive, she had a gift of bringing out the best in people. She believed in me, interviewed me in 2020 during Covid when others weren’t hiring, and in such uncertain times welcomed me to the Solmar Family. A few years later Julie trusted me to launch the new Solmar Holiday Helpline. I’ll never forget the message the night before the launch wishing me and my team luck and how her words of encouragement filled me with confidence. Then on launch day when things didn’t go to plan, she stood by me, rolled up her sleeves and helped me carry the shift and keep my sanity. That was just her way, and I admired her for that, amongst many other things. Even when I made the decision to move back to Cyprus she was positive, encouraging and found a way to keep me in the Solmar Family, that meant the world to me.  Julie you were deeply respected, admired and looked up to by so many. I hope you knew the difference you made every single day. Solmar will never be the same…

Losing someone is always hard on those left behind, losing someone so young is doubly difficult, With Julie it is hard to understand, for someone who had such a viberate passion for life and her company Solmar Villas, which she took on and made even better and stronger, to be one of the leading players in the market, it was a pleasure to have represented Solmar and Julie as the boss.    Julie’s Leadership, force of personality i am sure will be missed thought out the business, but even more so at home, all my love and positive thoughts go to her family and freinds in this time of reflection and remembering. Gone but certainly not forgotten. xXx…

The brightest stars are often short-lived. Julie’s light illuminated the paths of those she connected with. Her professionalism and absolute commitment, but also her energy and dedication, will be her legacy. Her star now shines brighter than ever….

It’s been difficult to come to terms with the news of Julie’s passing. Stepping into the office recently, it was immediately clear that something — someone — was missing. Her warm smile, her quick check-ins, and her unmistakable energy were a constant presence. I first met Julie in 2022 during a visit to the office for a couple of workshops. She waited that morning just to say hello — a simple gesture that spoke volumes about her thoughtfulness and warmth. Although I’d only known Julie for a few years, having worked with Solmar (mostly remotely) for just over three, we met often through calls and on-site meetings. Julie had a remarkable ability to brighten even the most routine of meetings. Her energy lifted the room, and there was never a dull moment when she was involved. Her passion for the travel industry was truly inspiring — but what stood out even more was her enthusiasm for technology, her willingness to reflect and grow, and her forward-thinking mindset. Working in the Salesforce industry for over a decade, I’ve met many professionals, and many of my most meaningful connections have been forged through this space. I’ll always be grateful to Julie…

Julie was such an incredible lady who left an imprint on everyone she met. She most definitely left a valued impression on myself! I will always be so honoured to have met Julie, who was always so kind and considerate. Every conversation I had with Julie was so warm and caring, as she always took a genuine interest in how I was. The happiness of her staff was always a focus of hers. When I moved to Norfolk, Julie was so supportive and always asked how we were getting on in our new home, which brings Julie’s personality to light. Julie was so unique, not like your normal ‘boss’, you could go to her with anything and everything and was such a help to me when I looked after both Cyprus and Mallorca. Julie, you will shine so brightly up there, and don’t get hogging that karaoke! From your ‘Lovely Lillie’ xx…
