My sincere condolences to Laura, Jack and the family. Jim was always there with a ready smile and a willingness to help. I remember him working in the machinery department, discussions about cars, helping students, and staff. He was a valued member of the of Rodbaston staff, someone who ‘made a difference’ by being not just knowledgeable, but also with his genuine warmth and charm. Rest in Peace, Jim….

My first memories of Jim was his kind smile, his boyish giggles and his warm welcome to the new Futures building, students and staff descending on Rodbaston. My lasting memories of Jim will be the proud & devoted family man. His unwavering love and devotion to his beautiful wife, Laura and his striking son Jack, shone through brightly. It was present in his every interaction and every photo viewed. Taken far too soon. Rest now Jim, with much love to you & your gorgeous family. Jan Gormley…

It was a real pleasure to know and work with Jim during my time at Rodbaston. Jim was an integral part of the Machinery Team at the College. His willingness to help others and go the extra mile… always with a smile! is the memory I will hold of Jim.   Jim had an active involvement in life at Rodbaston, helping build that special ‘Family Feeling’ associated with the College. His humour and fun loving attitude adding to many a memorable gathering.   Jim will be sadly missed by staff and students alike.  My heart goes out to Jane, Jack and family and wish you all happy memories of Jim, that last a lifetime….

I didn’t know Jim very well but whenever I saw him he would always smile and say hello, he was a true gentleman and it was clear when you saw him and Laura together how much she meant to him. As long as Laura and Jack were happy then Jim was happy too. I always remember speaking to him one day and him saying “happy wife means a happy life”. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Sleep well Jim. Our thoughts and wishes go out to Laura, Jack and all the family. Xx…

It is hard to find the words to express how deeply sorry we are for the loss of such a wonderful human being. Jim always made time for others. From a friendly smile when bumping into colleagues on campus, having a quick chat about how our families are getting on, and always making sure everyone was treated with respect and looked after. My husband had the priviledge of teaching Jack at middle school, and Jim would talk to me about how Jack was getting on and enjoying his time there. He always expressed how well Jack was doing and how proud of him he was. We would both like to send you our deepest condolences and to let you know that our door is always open xx…
