Fiona was my first real mentor stepping into the world of Management, she came to our site to help fix it and left a lasting impression. For a couple of years after a few people still lamented her removal of our second prep table.  I don’t think I would’ve developed as I have, without her influence. A strong knowledgeable, fierce individual, but also kind and friendly. Occasionally exchanging emails with her, or meeting her at Events was a nice moment for me.  I wish I had expressed to you the above in person.     …

I met Fiona when I joined the cinema in June last year, and initially I heard that Fiona was the stock lady who you don’t want to mess with! I have to admit I was a little scared to meet this lady from her reputation but those fears quickly vanished when I worked with her for the first time. I felt that I could ask Fiona any questions and she always had the answer, and she would also explain why and how she came to her answers which was always really insightful and helpful, I also remember chatting to Fiona about her history at Warner Village, and her journey to Vue. She always spoke about the cinema with such depth, knowledge and passion, you could see that she was a very proud and dedicated manager who always put her 100% into her role every single day. I will never forget the time when I saw her chasing kids from stealing her pick ‘n’ mix (A highlight of my cinema career!) and working with her on closes where no stone was unturned. Fiona was always lovely, welcoming, smiley, compassionate and fiery, she was truly an asset to the cinema and…

I have known Fiona for the last 17 and half years – 4 years as a staff member and 13 and half years working together in the management team. From day one she clearly had a passion for cinema like nobody else, her drive, work ethic, professionalism was there every single day. The guidance and knowledge she gave to me over the years only made me want to learn more. She worked so hard every single day and would go above and beyond to make sure the cinema was the best it could possibly be. She approached every single day with exactly the same passion and dedication she had when I met her for the first time 17 and half years ago.  Even during times of change, she was always there to steady the ship. Everything just felt easier and it was always reassuring to have her around especially during the first few years of my management career, I could ask absolutely anything and she would always know the answer. I have been so fortunate to work with her for such a long period of time and that I had the opportunity to learn from the very best. It has…

I first met Fiona 21 years ago at the Vue cinema Basingstoke where I was working as a CA. I came into the management team in 2008 where she took me under her wing and throughout my time in the team, she trained me up on all areas of the cinema and even though stock takes are not my strong point, she guided me through them and we had fun together doing those. For a period of time Fiona ran the cinema with just Liam and I to help her but we did amazingly as she was just so calm and knew exactly what she was doing. There’s no one quite like her, with all her wonderful knowledge. She also had the patient of a saint when training me on digital and im so grateful for all the information she provided me with. She laughed when trying to get me to change a projector bulb as I froze and got too scared to do it so she ended up doing it instead. I always looked forward to being on shift with Fiona because she would make me feel so valued and it was a lot of fun working with…

When I first joined Vue as a CA I was told that Fiona was fierce and had high standards and expectations. I’m not going to lie I was a little scared of her reputation! However the more I got to know her the I saw the passion and expertise she had for her role. When I was promoted to a Team Leader the advice and knowledge Fiona gave me was invaluable, she spent hours teaching me about all things cinema and was always hard but fair. Whilst we may have had our ups and downs over the years my respect for her never wavered.  I’m not sure the gap on our lives will be filled and I think I will always expect to find her in a stock room cleaning it or just round the corner of the managers office.  On a personal level Fi had a major impact on my life from advising me on how to choose a senior school for my sons to supporting me with my health challenges when she was fighting her own health battles.  Thank you for always challenging me even when I didn’t want to know…. we were as stubborn as each…

I remember the first time I met Fiona. I’d just been appointed as the General Manager at Vue Basingstoke but hadn’t officially started there yet, and Fiona and I met at an area meeting in Bristol. I’d already heard all these stories about an experienced and formidable manager at our cinema in Basingstoke, who had the respect and (healthy) fear of the team there – I must admit I was quite apprehensive about our first meeting. Fiona couldn’t have been more different in person than that reputation suggested – warm, understated, thoughtful and quite quiet in the room full of boisterous GM’s. But every time she spoke, it was with such knowledge and understanding of the topic, that everyone listened intently. I knew instantly that we would get along, her devotion to her career was only exceeded by that to her family and friends, and I’m so glad to count myself as a colleague and a friend, getting the best of both of those worlds. Rarely a day has passed in the last 8 years that we haven’t spoken – about either work or our personal lives – and I will deeply miss her friendship and support. Truly one…

As her youngest daughter, I was blessed to see the motherly and work side. Throughout her work life starting at Warner brothers, I knew I was given the best role model to work with, no matter what day it was the one lesson I learnt from work was to never mess with her stock. Mum was always kind, caring and strong with us having lots in common including our love for horses, Donald Duck and of course cake, to my fantastic Mumsie I will always be proud of you and forever miss you, love you forever Mum xxxxxxx…

As her oldest daughter i got to see 23 years of her comedic side like her smile when she was proud of something she achieved or her contagious laugh. She is a brilliant mum who always cared for me, she was my shopping buddy. She was also very passionate about her work starting of a Warner Brothers where she met my dad, she continued to love the cinema industry for years and took passion on her stock control.  I will always remember her for her smile and cuddles. Love you forever mum ❤️…
