In Loving Memory of

Alexandra Diengdoh Pavel

After almost two years of battling two aggressive cancers, Alex passed away on 17th May 2021 at the age of 29.

Throughout her life Alex has been cherished and loved by her friends, colleagues and family for her humour, wit, compassion, understanding and down-to-earth approach to life and death.

She was known for her wicked sense of humour till the last days, always posting inspirational quotes such as “I must not fear, fear is the mind killer”. Her rules of engagement were no pity, no bombardment of questions but she welcomed dark jokes at her expense.

Her strong will and determination to fight the dreadful disease by all means included in her last moments, a virtual experience of the ocean or a sail ship, a room spray that smells of the sea and a feast for the senses.

She was an accomplished writer, has published a book of short stories and comics, currently working on a novel in a series of six to seven. She was also a talented artist and a gifted musician, playing the piano, duitara (traditional Khasi instrument), violin and guitar.

Above all she was ever ready to support those in need from helping Mother Theresa’s nuns in St Petersburg with cooking and feeding the old and sick to other activities such as victim support and providing moral support and comfort to friends.

Alex left a huge void in our lives and shattered our hopes and dreams.

Rest in peace our beloved angel, we will be together again in a better world.

To my sweet Alex in heaven. I just want you to know that you are always in my thoughts, and know how much I love you so. When I think of your beautiful face, it all seems so wrong. You had so much to look forward to and so much left to do, But God needed somebody in heaven who is as special as you. You are always around us, engulfing us with your love, giving us strength, keeping us close, and watching over us from above,  Till we meet again ❤Xoxo…

I am still trying to take all this in. We have never met face to face, only through video calls, but it felt like we had known each other for a long time when we spoke. Alex was a hard-working individual and a very helpful colleague. It is rare to find colleagues like you. I will miss you….

Dear Alexandra, I did not have a chance to meet you, however, I feel like knowing you because of so many things your father told us. I am very confident you are in a better place now, where pain and suffering does not exist and you will continue writing your stories and playing your music for the army of angels that surrounds you. You left a huge emptiness in your parents lives as they will no longer see and enjoy your presence. I am sure though that your spirit and beauty is with them in every minute and second. Rest in peace, Alexandra!…

To my dearest Alex, No amount of words or tears are enough to describe the void you have left in my life. I have known you for over 10 years and together we shared our love for horror movies, Japanese food, strolling through busy London streets during Christmas, and so much more. These memories are difficult to pen down but I will forever cherish and treasure them. You have shown immense courage in the last 2 years. That is how I would like to remember you. Strong, resilient, funny and the most wonderful friend. I love you and I will always carry a part of you with me in my heart. Rest in peace my beautiful friend.  Love,  Q…

Dear Jordana,   Parvati and I are shocked to learn of the sudden and pre-mature demise of Alexandra. It is not long ago when I visited London in 2018 where she guided me during the visit and we had our lunch together. I cherish those fond memories. She was lively, intelligent and compassionate ready to help others. She would have made a wonderful person and a responsible citizen. I could never imagine that her life will be cut short so soon. This has been a rude shock. I can understand your feelings and predicament at this very difficult time. For the parents it is unbearable loss and more so for the mother. This is a rude shock of destiny. Unfortunately, one can do nothing to reverse this. How cruel it may be, one has to reconcile and move forward on the journey of life. I pray to the Almighty to give you enough strength to withstand this grief. If I can be of any help, please do not hesitate to let me know. May the departed sould rest in peace. Om Shanti….
