In Memory of Alan Mcaulay

Our loved colleague Alan McAulay passed away on Sunday 22. November due to an unexpected seizure during his bike tour, which he loved doing.

Alan will be remembered in our hearts for his genuine positivity, his smile and his sense of humor. Every person leaves a mark in our life journey. This memory book is meant to leave legacy and memory of Alan not only in our hearts, but also to his beloved family to know the warm and genuine way Alan touched our lives.

I met Alan through his Glasgow University friends in the 1980’s. But once you met Alan, you were his friend too. A Wise, Calm, Caring and Thoughtful guy, who never forgot a name and never let you down. Will always be in our thoughts and fondly remembered by the Bhoys lucky enough to share a beer and a trip to the football with him. A warm and generous host on visits too. An absolute gentleman, taken from Debbie, Holly and Katie far too soon. …

Alan, you were a ray of light on a cloudy day.  Your positivity was contagious, no matter how stressful things were, even for your poor international colleagues who didn’t quite understand that beautiful Scottish brogue.   Working with you made me better, having you at my side was a guaranteed win, if not for your unfaltering professionalism, then at least simply for how fun it always was.  I hope I told you this in person or in one of our many long calls: I bloody well wish I could tell you that again now.   I can’t imagine the pain of your loss to your family, who you spoke of often and in the most loving way, which even a work colleage could detect.  I’ll miss you mate.   Warren …

If there is a paradise for the cyclists I am sure you will be there. We compared our riding during the WE all the time and we have been joking about the fact that you were riding under the rain whereas I was under the sun. Unfortunately, we will not have the opportunity to do what we planned to do, riding together and having fun. I was committed to be your coach for the bike and you were supposed to coach me during the break having a beer or something more local from your nice country. We worked a lot together around Unilever but the image I will keep from you is when you were laughing explaining me how wet and frozen you were when back from your sunday ride. Will think to you each time I am taking my bike Alan.  …
