I first met David (“Smudge”) at the start of 2007 when he began working for Terence O’Rourke, a team where many former members are now at SLR. Quiet but dedicated to giving the client what they needed, he never complained about any of our many requests as he worked on multiple wind farm projects for me. He was a person you could absolutely rely on, both to do the work and to do it to the best of his ability. I saw less of him in recent years but was pleased to hear he was back working with colleagues with whom he had developed a close working relationship over many years. When I heard of his passing this morning, only a relatively short time before his 50th birthday, I was both shocked and saddened. He will be greatly missed, and the world is a poorer place without him. My condolences to Andrea and Ben who I never met but he spoke lovingly about you both.
