A gentleman, a consummate professional, an inspiring mentor all wrapped up with a wicked sense of humour. I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear of Nigel’s passing. My biggest regret is that I didn’t have, nor take, the oppotunity to work more closly with him. It was obvious that he took great pleasure in sharing his knowledge and experience with his less experinced colleagues but more than that, he was great at actively developing others, helping them grow their self-confidence and encouraging people to raise questions and expand their knowledge. Nigel’s most endearing quality was that, whatever the task at hand Nigel approached it with a glint in his eye and a cheeky smile on his face all of which served him well and made him a popular and truely likeable friend.
