I was deeply saddened to learn of Stephen’s untimely death. He is certainly one of those people who will always be remembered for his optimism, cheerfulness – that smile – and his wonderful eccentricity. A real KC legend. When I joined the staff at Kent College in 2001, he was one of the first to welcome me and make me feel part of the KC family. My two sons, Peter and David, both pupils at KC, already knew, respected and liked him both through the classroom and DofE. Peter was in Stephen’s tutor group in the 6th form and, as a parent, I will always be grateful to him for the support he offered Peter and the tolerance and understanding he showed when Peter was finding things difficult. Stephen will be much missed and I send my sympathy and thoughts to Ardell and Chris.
