It’s with great sadness that I’m writing these words to remember Simon.
I was part of his research group for many years and I can honestly say that they were the best of my career. Simon was an excellent group leader, always encouraging, respectful and ready to listen. He valued all the members of his group and welcomed new ideas and suggestions. He always appreciated my work and made me feel that I was positively contributing to the project even when the results were not what we expected or hoped for.
My thoughts are with his family and his friends at this difficult time. We will miss you Simon!
