Jon Regan

I sit here having read the messages of condolence for Richard with warmth, happiness, and sadness. To a post they describe the same person we all knew; a great man who was humble, generous, personable, engaging and above all, great fun to be around.

My everlasting memories of spending time with Richard will be touring and talking to associates with him on the visits he made in the final year of operations at Liverpool Road. His distinctive touch, I know, meant so much to the associates who he spoke to who were leaving Mars as their respective lines shut down.

On these visits, a personal highlight for me was then driving Richard back to Dundee Road in the van I had at the time. A blacked-out Mercedes Vito, more reminiscent of something the A team would drive. Windows down, arms out, two grown men grinning from ear to ear, with not a word said, just ‘enjoying’ being – wonderful memories for which I am so grateful.
