John Pettit

It is with great sadness, for a life cruelly shortened, that I write this short tribute to Nigel.

We worked together as GP colleagues for 20 years in Malmesbury, and I looked up to him as a role model from the start. Nigel was outstanding amongst his peers in terms of his encyclopaedic medical knowledge, his natural computer skills and his kindness and calm, non-judgemental way with patients and colleagues alike. Very few are blessed with all three. And that’s not to mention his artistic talents, both with brush and using computer graphics.

A much loved, gentle family man with a cheeky sense of humour, he showed extraordinary acceptance and positivity throughout his final illness.

I will continue to aspire to match his skills as a doctor and his honest kindness, and consider myself lucky to have been able to work alongside him for such a large proportion of my medical career. He will truly be missed, and remembered, by many.
