Joe, you were my first ever “work dad” when I joined Arup as a young graduate, and I will always be grateful for the way you shaped the early years of my career. I had the privilege of working closely with you on projects, learning from your calm, pragmatic nature and the steady confidence you brought into every room.
You were so generous with your time and we could always count on you being one of the first in the office, having cycled across London, even when it was freezing cold and dark outside!
You encouraged me, pushed me, and believed in me, especially through my chartership process. Even while you were unwell, and even when I was on the other side of the world, you still made time to guide me and help me get it over the line. That generosity of spirit was simply who you were. A great person, a mentor in the truest sense, and you will be sorely missed.
