A lot of people have already mentioned how kind, professional and hardworking Ms Malou was and the huge and lasting impact she had on ShelterBox. I also want to share a personal story about some conversations we had during the first Covid lockdown, when everyone was working from home. At the time, I was living with my extended family (my sister, brother-in-law, their 3 children and my own 2 children). In the UK this is quite unusual and most of my colleagues here were surprised to hear there were so many of us living in the same house. Malou simply replied “Oh, you’re doing it Philippines-style!” and was the only person who made me feel normal and like she understood my situation, as we shared family-stories and discussed work with nieces and nephews playing/completing schoolwork in the background of our video calls. She cared for her family so much and it was a privilege getting to know this side of her a bit better. Ms Malou, I know there are so many people in the Philippines and at ShelterBox, globally, who miss you. I miss you. Rest in peace x
