It is with deep sorrow and a heavy heart that I learned of the passing of Dr. Prosper Chaki. His loss is immeasurable to the malaria research and public health community, and profoundly personal to me.
I had the privilege of working closely with Dr. Chaki as a friend, mentor, and trusted advisor. He played a pivotal role in the establishment of the PAMCA Rwanda Chapter and was instrumental in the organization of several conferences on malaria control, including the PAMCA Conference. His vision, intellectual rigor, and unwavering commitment to malaria elimination inspired all who worked alongside him.
Beyond his remarkable professional contributions, Dr. Chaki generously supported me in shaping my PhD journey. He believed in my initial idea on malaria elimination in the East African Community and guided me thoughtfully as it was refined to focus on Rwanda. His mentorship was marked by humility, kindness, and a genuine desire to see others grow.
Dr. Prosper Chaki leaves behind a legacy of excellence, mentorship, and service that will continue to guide and motivate us. He will be deeply missed, but his impact will endure through the many lives he touched and the work he helped build.
May Your Soul Rest In Eternal Peace, Dear Dr Prosper, and May Your Family, Friends, and Colleagues Find Strength and Comfort During this Difficult Time.
