Danny and I crossed paths several times in our careers – at Christian Aid, again in the Private Sector Department at DFID and then in the DFID Uganda Office where I was fortunate to work for him directly. Danny’s passion and commitment to his work and to the people that worked for him shone brightly and clearly. It is not surprising that so many of Danny’s work colleagues also considered him to be a friend and we were really touched that Danny joined us to celebrate our wedding.
Danny had a knack for translating big ideas into simple language and for getting people to follow him. His energetic, caring, big picture, fun, leadership style was infectious. I will always remember his huge grin – whether debating a policy position or sat behind the drums. He was a fantastic boss and the best role model I’ve had in my career. I am desperately sad that Danny has been taken away from us – but I will continue to strive to emulate him.
