Ruth was such a vibrant member of our legal & regulatory community. She had a keen passion in her work – her depth of knowledge about BT and regulatory issues, and her ability and willingness to find a good solution to any issue was unsurpassed. In equal measure her passion was channelled into making BT a better place to work, whether from her focus on equality and unity in the workplace, to being an active participant in any team challenge or event, or just being full of positivity. I only had the privileged of meeting Ruth once in person – in Mexico City in November 2024. But it felt like I had known Ruth for years, having spoken to her regularly over the last few years since I have held the role as General Counsel for BT’s Business and Global divisions. Her effervescent nature was perfectly suited to a team get together, always seeing the positive in people and being a galvanising spirit for any team. And her competitiveness came through massively, when I was lucky to be in her team with Lisa-Marie in the art challenge (see photo). I’ll miss her laughter but also her considered input on thorny topics. Ruth has played an important part of the role of BT Legal over the last decade, and I will sorely miss her. She has a special place in our hearts. Bruce Breckenridge – General Counsel BT Business, based in London.
