Josie Nickson, née Hartley, died on the 9th January 2021 at the age of 90. She was born in Crumpsall, Manchester, and was educated at Notre Dame School for Girls. She then studied at Liverpool University before training to be a teacher, a profession she followed all her working life. She was very involved in her local church, St. Anne’s Crumpsall and will be remembered for campaigning for many social and environmental causes. Josie had many interests and hobbies ranging from bird watching to calligraphy, all of which she pursued with great enthusiasm along with her husband Bob.
She is survived by her sons Paul, Anthony, Edward and Matthew, their wives and partners and six grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Joe and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Bob and her son Christopher.

There will be a private funeral for close family members only
Due to the current restrictions there will be no requiem mass or vigil open to all, but there will be a full memorial service planned as soon as restrictions are lifted so everyone can come and pay their respects.
