Anthony Norman 'Tony' Collins

The family have set up this rememberance book to honour our Dad, Tony Collins, who became the first manager of black heritage in the English Football League in 1960 at Rochdale AFC, also known as the ‘Football Master Spy’. Most of all he was our Dad and Grandad – warm, witty, perceptive, wise and with a wicked sense of humour. We have attempted to do justice to his charismatic personality as well as his professional acheivements, of which we are very proud of course. We thank everyone for the many kind tributes and invite you to comment here. Thank you Sandra, Andy and Sarita

Tony passed away peacefully on 8th February 2021. A loving husband to the late Edith, Father to Sandra, Andrew and Sarita and a cherished Grandfather to Bianca, Carlene, Rochelle, Lexine, Adam and Felicity.

Tony was a valued member of the Professional Football Community and has touched the lives of many. He leaves a memorable legacy. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday 23rd February, 1.00pm at Rochdale Crematorium. Due to the current Covid19 restrictions, there will be limited attendance at the crematorium.
