Ian was a mentor and friend to so many of us in the active travel sector and beyond, showing how to lead with kindness and compassion. He gave his time generously, listened with interest and spoke with great thoughfulness. Ian walked his talk, quite literally, and his love of the outdoors and for physical activity radiated from him. I will miss his calm reassurance and his passion for positive change, just as I will miss his ready smile. It was a privilege to work with Ian and my heart goes out to those closest to him.
