Nick Short

Reading through so many messages on these pages I see that so many of us working and studying at the RVC had similar experiences of Nick. Which makes his impact all the more remarkable. Nick always found time to encourage me, to share ideas, to share enthusiasm. The fact that he clearly managed to do that for so many of us is incredible.

As well as being full of innovation, I found Nick to be incredibly humble. I worked with him when I was on the Students’ Union, then as a graduate, later as a postgraduate student and eventually as a colleague. Nick treated me in the same manner in all of those roles. When I wanted to change career direction in 2011, I would credit Nick as being the most influential person that I spoke to at the college, and I am very grateful for the advice and encouragement that he gave to me then, and subsequently.

I was very sorry to see Nick go when he left the college and the news of his passing is a much greater loss. My very best wishes to his family.
