Ian Findlay CBE

It was with great sadness that I learnt of Ian’s untimely and and unexpected passing. The news will be both shocking and devastating to family and friends. The thoughs of everyone at Living Streets are with Ian’s family and collegues at our fellow walking charity Paths for All which Ian led so admirably. Ian was a respected and universally liked leader within the voluntary sector and highly valued partner for charities involved in active travel.

Ian was instrucmental in raising the status of walking as a force for good within public life and inspired my projects, programmes and policies – not least the national walking strategy. This included helping to set up and support the growth of Living Streets Scotland since 2008 which we will be forever grateful. A personality like this is very rare and ultimately irreplaceable. However, everyone at Living Streets Scoland hopes Ian’s approach to work, life, and particularly working with others will endure so his vision for walking in Scotland is realised.
