Colin Olden

Colin and I met as ORA’s at Solent MRSC in the early ’90’s. Those positions came to an end, but before we parted, I asked whether I could have a trip out on Hamble Lifeboat. He agreed, and after a day with the lifeboat crew Colin invited me to join. Colin had built one of the most respected lifeboat services in the District, and with that invitation I took his arm off at the shoulder.

The rest for me,as they say, is history. Colin’s professionalism over a period of more than 20 years taught me so much about boats, marine engineering, and search and rescue.

He was respected by all in the SAR business and will be sadly missed.

Rest in Peace, Colin, and thanks for everyhting.
