Dr Roderick Guy Jackson

It was with great sadness that I learned, belatedly, of Guy’s death. We were very close friends in university days, and I can certainly confirm his love of heavy rock and grand prix racing, having played in a couple of bands with him back in the day, and gone to the Monsters of Rock festival at Castle Donington and the European Grand Prix practice day at Brands Hatch. His love of good food revolved more around kebabs and Chinese in those days, but I’m sure he will have progressed.
Unfortunately we largely lost touch after I married and moved out of London, but contacted one another sporadically over the years.
He was always a very private person back then, and very much kept himself to himself, so it was not a surprise to read that his decline was not widely shared until he was quite unwell.
RIP Guy – a gentleman.
