“How do you pick up the threads of an old life? How do you go on, when in your heart, you begin to understand, there is no going back? There are some things that time cannot mend. Some hurts that go too deep… that have taken hold” – J.R.R Tolkien.

My darling twin – Even though I first met you back in Edinburgh in 2012, when we were studying together, it seems that you have always been part of my life. Our love for the ocean, books, Disney movies, good food, along with everything that looks cute and fluffy just worked. It is so strange that sometimes our minds were still in sync even though the Atlantic Ocean was between us. I’m grateful for many moments, those of adding to our travel list and what to taste on those travels. Sitting in graduation wondering if they will pronounce our names right, our catch up in Brighton.

I will always be the most grateful that you took the trip to Iceland to come to my wedding, I will always treasure that whole experience. Moments of amazing times, especially the trip we took the day after the wedding. You saw horses out in the fields. Your reaction being priceless since horses are adorably fluffy in wintertime and Icelandic nature at its best in November – freezing cold, windy, but also sunny. You left your mark on Iceland – and there are many here that mourn you and your beautiful soul – dóttir of Iceland.

No words can fully describe how much life and talent Alex was to this world, that made it a better place for the rest of us. Her heart, mind, wit and art were pure gold. The memory of Alex will never be lost, it carries through the lives she touched, and she touched the lives of many across the world. We are so blessed to have been a part of her life.

“End? The journey doesn’t end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain curtain of this world rolls back and all turns to silver glass and then you see it. White shores and beyond. A far green country under a swift sunrise” – J.R.R Tolkien.

Sail safely.

Love you and miss you always Góa, Oddi and mr. Fluffles
