Devrut Amit Nathwani

Dabz, my big brother.

You are simply the best person. Always seeing the best in every situation, always extending your advice and kind words, and always making everyone feel as if you had all the time in the world for them.

Since I was born, I have always looked forward to seeing you. Every Friday your annoying little cousins would come and wait impatiently for you to finish ‘tuition’ so you could entertain us with dirty cloths, made up games, and inappropriate films. Nothing changed throughout the years. The Mike Wazowski Game turned into Catan nights, film evenings became nights out,  Aquadrome visits transformed into skiing trips and festivals which somehow you roped me into going.

You always made me see the bigger picture, you always knew what to say, and you always reassured me that there is more to life than Med School. I looked to you for so many things; from medical applications, to song recommendations, to how to live my best life and not worry about money. You made Theo feel so welcomed and I will never be able to thank you enough for that.

I miss your smile and presence everyday Dabz but I know you are here. I see you in the sky when the sun is setting, and I know you are still guiding each and everyone of us, particularly telling me to leave work on time. You are truly the best role model to me Dabz and I am eternally grateful for you showing me how to live and for extending our family all the way to Leeds. I want to enjoy food the way you did, play sport as passionately as you did, travel as if there are no borders like you did, and I will strive to live life the way you did. These messages showcase how you will always be everybody’s favourite, and I hope you are looking down, knowing how loved you are and how you have transformed so many lives. I know I will never be able to do it with the same grace and love that you did, but I promise to look after the family and Preets, and to cherish every aspect of life that was important to you.

P.S. Don’t worry, I will make sure Preets still listens to Taylor Swift.
