David and Carole, Phil and I had a very special friendship over decades, working together, holidaying together, talking for hours, arguing productively over pedagogy, eating out with joy, having a few drinks,, seeing five performances a day at the Edinburgh Festival, laughing endlessly, sharing ideas with colleagues younger in career, contributing to the Seda executive and publications committee, making our marks at Seda conferences, traveling all over Europe, sharing family events, shopping, visiting art galleries…and did I mention talking and laughing!

The loss of both of them both is huge to us as individuals, to the Seda community and to national and international educational developments. Concentrating now on all the happy and positive memories and remembering with joy all our times together
