I think that Her Majesty was a constant presence in our lives, and in some mysterious way did not rule over us but represented us while the politicians came and went.  Her triumph was to be one of us, in a world where we often feel powerless and underrepresented in the face of the powerful, and to use her authority on our behalf.  I will always be grateful to her for that.

She was also true to her word, given so long ago.  There are so many in public life who we cannot trust.  I never felt anything but absolute trust and fealty to her.
