Jonathan Nichols

I was deeply saddened to hear this terrible news. I only met Jonny on odd occasions but every time it literally laugh a minute fun crossed with a great leader.

The first time I met him must have been at the turn of the Millennium on a wintery Saturday afternoon at Bramhope footy. I was young and watching from the side lines hung over and he was young leading the team as club captain. He gave the half time team talk (there wasn’t a manager). The lads were 2-0 up but he enforced zero complacency and went round the team directing what he thought was going well and what needed improvement. Complimenting and disciplining within the same sentences and throwing in humour and mick taking to make it highly vivid and motivational. Everyone was hooked to his every word. Absolutely perfect. Needless to say Bramhope went on and won… To this day when I think leadership I think Jonny Nic that day. He probably did talks like that most days in his job. What a talent sadly lost.

Afterwards in the Fox and on the various nights out/trips away I had the fortune to share with him it was always more of the same – absolute fun. Rest in peace. Love and deepest sympathy to the family.
