Marjorie ( Alf ) McVey

Dear Alfie, well you were one of the first physiotherapists I met when I came to London 25 years ago. I still remember the darting eyes, the quick visual scan assessment and then the slow inquisition of who I was and what was my agenda over the weeks ahead. Wasn’t long before we were heading out to pride festivals on Clapham Common, both chasing the same girl, and both riding unsuccessfully home on a night bus together.

I have to say I have never met a person so dedicated to their fellow human beings. A total commitment to your clients often at the expense of your own self. A person full of laughter, smiles, cheek, reprimand when required and just the right amount of crazy too. We all need that in our lives.

I am so sad to hear of your passing but knowing that life has become less than the kind of life you inspired I know you are now in a place to begin the next chapter. I raise a glass to you Alfie. I’ll keep a special place in my heart just for you. 🥂
