In remembering Greg today I checked my shoes for spiders before putting them on and hung my cycling clothes on the radiator. I turned my nose up at every cup of coffee offered. I surprised a colleague by refusing to update my profile picture to one more appropriate for my age. I tried to stay off social media and talked about my boys instead. I did my best to listen openly to what is being said and respond genuinely and helpfully. I did not buy a Porsche. I (almost) cleared my email before the end of the day and remembered to put the cloth carefully over my keyboard so as not to mark the laptop screen. I felt the loss of my colleague and collaborator. I went to meetings and wrote papers and dreamt up new projects, all of which are poorer for the lack of Greg.
