Simon Peter Foreman
Dear Wendy , Ed and Henry
Not my picture , but one I took of Simon and Cameron a couple of years ago outside The Lamb, with Simon looking at his jovial best …
He was with me eating a pizza the moment of 9/11 and I remember our shared disbelief as events unfolded on the TV ( ….he still finished his pizza before we left though…. ).
Then there was our first trip to Romania together , as we entered the hotel bar on the first night it was empty except for one man and his French onion soup . We remarked how he looked like a Romanian Lee Evans ( the comedian ) and joined him only to find out it actually was Lee Evans who was making a film in Bucharest with the dustbin lid banging group” Stomp ” .
The 3 of us had a great time together for the hour or so before his entourage turned up , and although Lee was funny that evening , Simon by far got the most laughs.
As my Brother-in-Law Andy was a great Lee fan ( and also our UK taxi to/from the airport ) , Simon secured his autograph, and it was only when we got back to the UK to present Andy with the autograph that we found it read ” To Andy all the best sorry I missed you … ” blank with no name…..
….a story that we reminded each other of many times over the following years
The world will be less fun place without Simon close by , but he lives in all of us who were lucky enough to know him, and is always in my thoughts .
