It was clear from the first time I met John that he had a strong moral compass given to him by his Methodist faith and being a Head Master. But I never felt judged. John and Elspeth welcomed me into the family with kindness, generousity and love.

I’m grateful for John and Elspeth’s support as Helen and I learnt how to be parents. Leo and Connie also thrived on the rooted, unconditional love and support of their grand parents.

I see glimmers of the strengths Leo and Connie have now and how they have passed down the generations. John may be gone but the good of him and Elspeth lives on. Now and into the future. Thank you for that.
