Our late Gracious Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
I was born on Her Majesty’s 14th Birthday and as a result I have always felt a close affinity with her. I have been a keen photographer since the age of six and my first opportunity to take pictures of The Queen occurred when she visited my school in 1955, but the results were disappointing!
It was a great privilege to be appointed as the official photographer for the Royal Philatelic Society when Her Majesty came to open our new building on 26th November 2019. I was able to be near her throughout her tour of the building. I was greatly impressed by her keen interest in our activities, her charm and her dignity. This is reflected in the picture I have chosen which shows two of the keepers of the Royal Stamp collection in the background.
I am very sad that she has died as she has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I offer my condolences to King Charles, to his family and to all those who are mourning her death.
May She Rest in Peace!
