It was always a great joy and pleasure to walk the Scottish hills and dales with Oliver in the short time we knew him. His initial quiet reserve gave way to a lively enthusiasm for our forays into the Highlands whatever the weather or difficulty of terrain threw at him, all the while delighting us with his many interesting stories of his language teaching in far flung places of the world. 

On behalf of the Blairgowrie and District Hillwalking Club may I say that we will all miss Oliver’s pleasant companionship along the beautful paths of Scotland’s magnificent walking country.
