Benno Ndulu was the epitome of a gentleman. I was truly honoured to have worked, and to have spent some time with such a humble man. He was always sincere, thoughtful and utterly dedicated to his work and life’s mission. He always had a welcoming and knowing smile, and he was always incredibly kind to everyone he met. I really valued how thoughtful he was to those of us who were not from an academic backgroud – I was so touched when he sent warm thank you messages for my team for their hard work. It was a genuine shock to hear of his tragic loss. It brought real sadness to me – someone who really only knew him in a professional capacity. But, I had a real fondness for him and the manner in which he carried himself. He was an inspiration in professionalism. I can only imagine the devastation of his great loss on his family and to those who were close to him. I would like to send my heart felt thoughts to you, and I hope that knowing how much Benno was respected and loved around the world  – not only for the immense global legacy he left, but also for his huge kindnesses – will offer some solace and comfort in these difficult days.
