I would like to express my deepest condolences to Susan and the rest of the family upon hearing of Neils passing.

I started working with Neil when he moved to Glasgow to set up his new lab in 2009. Throughout the 13 years of working with Neil, we saw many changes together, from lab space to students and staff.  Our core group of staff shared many experiences together, some of which will always remain with me. Neil was a great boss to work for, a fantastic mentor and supervisor to the various PhD students who entered the lab by always being friendly and welcoming with an open door policy at all times. He was a great scientist and will be greatly missed within the scientific community. Neil will be sadly missed by all who met him.
