I met Dorothy in approx 1985/86 when we did some voluntary research work together for the CPAG (Child Poverty Action Group).
We lived close to each other in South Woodford, where she lived at the time with her husband Peter, and her mother was close by. I visited her amazing mother as well on many occassions.
Dorothy told me wonderful stories of her childhood, including how as a 5 year old she was outraged by how poverty affected people, and her early days as a Social Worker. I always maintained that a book could be written of her many tales, but sadly it never happened.
I will remember Dorothy with deep fondness and affection, and for the inspiration she ignited in me to believe in myself.
RIP Dorothy xx
