Simon Foreman

Dear Wendy and “Boys”,

I had the absolute pleasure of working with Simon throughout his time at RFIB.  And whilst we were in the iconic Gherkin he sat next to me.  We were both “early birds” and he regularly regaled me with stories of his early morning walks through Greenwich Park.  Everyone knows what a fantastic raconteur he was, although you may need to forgive him, for he always described “Windy Wendy” when talking about you.  Even now I smile at the story of him falling either up or down some stairs ( i cannot remember which) whilst on holiday, resulting in the removal of his gall bladder.  Only Simon could end the story of the trip back to the airport in an ambulance with the “blues and twos” going, and of course, only Simon could turn the story (what, two sentences from me) into a 20 minute tale of derring-do!

The service in Greenwich was beautiful, and you all spoke so movingly about Simon, and how very brave in front of such a huge congregation of friends and family.  Reference to his love of red trousers reminded me of the reversible raincoat he bought with I think a navy and then a bright red.  Either way, it was Simon!  It will be a tough year ahead, (and beyond) but support each other and accept offers of help.  Remember him fondly, as I will – he was a fantastic work colleague always willing to share his encyclopedic knowledge, never grumpy and always with a tale.  Lucy x
