John was one of the first people I met when I joined RSSB in 2008. John was so welcoming and we became friends. John was passionate and committeed to everything he did. I supported John and Graham with their accreditation work and there were lots of laughs along the way. John really enjoyed his work in the European and International standards groups within CEN and ISO, making friends and bringing his expertise to the groups. John was a meticulous planner and that showed when he was putting the itineraries together for his travels with Graham. John and Graham used to share their photos with me and they were always up to something – visiting the ‘Union Pacific Big Boy’ or in John’s own words ‘getting drowned on the boat charging at the Horseshoe Falls in Niagra, wearing a red condom’ (referenced in this photo of John).

John was always talking about his family and how prouud he was of their achievements. I will miss John’s professionalism, charisma, charm and friendship. My thoughts are with John’s family.
