Sarah Elizabeth Curr

Words cannot express the sadness felt by everyone at the passing of Sarah, a beautiful soul. She was a colleague of mine, but more importantly, a good friend and so very much missed.

As a colleague Sarah was inspirational, highly motivated in her work, always full of ideas and creativity and ready to take on a challenge. I really admired her determination and focus – when she set herself a goal she would always see it through to the end. She paid great attention to detail and set herself high standards, always committing herself to things 100%. She was fiercely intelligent and quick witted, learning new skills easily, applying herself diligently to anything she took on.

Her confidence and enthusiasm were contagious. I am forever grateful for the confidence she had in me as she encourgaed me to do things I would never have done otherwise- such as contributing to the book she edited. Finally getting the book to publication was a great achievement for her, a product of her determination.

As a friend, so many words come to mind when thinking of Sarah. She was truly a unique person, a one-off, for whom they really did throw away the mould. She was loyal and supportive, loved by so many, , full of kindness and compassion. She was feisty, full of fun, always laughing and smiling, and she could be so funny –  she had a great sense of humour. Spending an evening with Sarah was something to look forward to, very entertaining with lots of laughter.

She was always generous with her time, and despite working so hard and giving so much of herself to her work she always found time for her friends. She loved to chat and catch up with friends, with a drink after work, or Sunday lunch in Blackheath. I have happy memories of supper round at her flat, just sitting knitting, eating pizza and drinking vegan wine.

She often talked about her family, who she loved very much and felt loved in return. She loved being ‘Auntie Sarah’ to her nieces and nephews, who brought her so much joy.

Some people are very special in our lives and leave a deep impression- Sarah was one such person. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
