Ian Findlay CBE

I wanted to record how grateful I am to have worked with Ian as a colleague over the past 16 years. He was the best person to have by your side giving evidence to Parliament on why it is so imortant everyone gets a chance to be able to get outside to walk, wheel and cycle easily and safely. Ian was a great role model and a mentor, someone you could call and talk through a difficult issue and be confident you would get great and thoughtful advice.

Over the years we saw the profile of walking rise up and up, Ian was at the forefront of that work and he leaves both a great legacy and positive chnages to many people’s lives.

He was funny, self deprecating, wise, under-stated and with a wonderful, dry sense of humour. I really looked forward to seeing him and I can’t imagine not seeing him around.

It’s tragic news, and my sympathy is sent to all Ian’s colleagues and especially his family.
